Starting A Blog

I never thought I would blog, but then one of my good friends told me about blog books. (Thanks for the inspiration Matt and Leigh – check out Leigh’s completely awesome blog here) So, I have decided to blog for Ella. I love the idea of printing a book for her. Plus, I am NOT good at keeping up with baby books!!

I am not good at writing profile statements (notice the complete absence of anything about me on my profile). I always feel super cheesy, but I am going to attempt to fill you in on us.

Me

As I said, I am completely horrible at this. I am Ella’s Mommy. She is an absolute joy to have in our lives. I can’t remember what life was like before her. I am Alan’s wife, and I am glad he still puts up with me!! I work (way too much…) as a HACCP Coordinator, and I really love my job. I am a big fan of overly dramatic reality shows (ie: the bachelor – which I am catching up on as I am writing this), pedicures, spending time with my family, and music. Ok, that is about all that I can manage… I am sure you will figure out more later.

Alan

Alan and I are high school sweethearts (…awwww). We have been married for five years this past August. He works in commercial waterproofing (neither one of us have jobs that are easy to explain). He is a wonderful father, and my best friend. He is a huge sports fan, and he loves his bird dogs, hunting, and being out on the lake in our boat.

Ella

Where do I even start?? Ella joined our family on May 9, 2009. She is now 21 months old, and she is fantastic! She looks just like her Daddy, but she acts just like her Mommy. Alan now has to put up with two incredibly stubborn women, God bless him! She loves to go all the time, and she is always ready to “help” us with whatever project we are working on.

Here are some completely random pictures of our family:

I think that about covers everything …oh wait, we also have a Zoo at our house. Alan and I (more Alan than I…) might have an extremely small weakness for animals. We have 6 dogs – Stormi, Dale, Frizz, Jazz, Babe, and Lucy. That number could completely change in the next few days – Alan is currently on a hunting trip, and that always leads to changes in the “family”. We have two cats – have I mentioned I really dislike cats?? Our first cat was given to us as a “housewarming” gift …yes, we have a wonderful friend. She is …odd. So, Alan decided she needed a “friend” to socialize with. It didn’t help. We also have fish tanks. (Notice the plural…) Needless to say, we have a lot of animals!!

If you are still reading this, here comes the fun part. Let me tell you about today. As I said Ella is always willing to help. In the last few days she has decided she needs to “help” with diaper changes. This typically involves taking her diaper off shortly after it is “shooie”, bringing it to me, telling me it is “shooie”, and refusing to put on a new diaper. (I know, we are working on the potty training thing – I was just waiting for the wonderful warm weather we have had lately) Well, today she decided to take her diaper off prior to going to the bathroom, and then she went potty in her bedroom floor. (and of course, it was not pee pee!!) She then wanted to show me her mess, and she insisted we clean it up immediately. In my haste to clean up before I had too much “help”, I made the mistake of not putting a diaper on her. She did just go to the bathroom, right?? Surely I had some time. Guess what? I was wrong. While cleaning the carpet (why didn’t we put hardwood in the bedrooms too??), she then went to the bathroom (luckily – I guess - pee pee). Problem, she was standing on one of her coloring books and the pack of markers.

At that point I decided it was time for a bath. Oh, and did I mention Alan is out of town???
